Japanese Red Pine - they're all one of a kind!Japanese Red Pine

Pinus densiflora--Japanese Red Pine 

Hardiness Zones: 3 to 7 
Height: 50 ft
Spread: 50 ft
Form: irregular 
Type: narrow-leaved evergreen tree 
Annual Growth Rate: less than 12 inches 

Comments: Japanese Red Pine turns yellowish during winter. The bark is reddish and peeling.  A terrific tree for Japanese gardens, or unusual interest in any landscape. Will grow 15 feet over approximately 12-15 years. The tree prefers a site with full sun and a well-drained, slightly acid soil. 

Cultivars: 
'Jane Kluis' - A rounded plant with bright green needles. Occasionally available as a grafted standard.
'Oculus-draconis' - A fast-growing tree with a wide and upright habit. The needles have distinct yellow bands.
