Comments: Canadian Hemlock may be one of the most beautiful conifers with its soft, green needles attached to arching branches. Canadian hemlock is tolerant of shearing and can be used in large, sheared screens. While it is native to Michigan, the
hemlock seems to be intolerant of a combination of high-pH soil, poor drainage
or excessive watering, and hot summer temperatures. We see poor survival rates in much of
