Kentucky
Coffee Tree
Gymnocladus dioicus
Hardiness Zones: 3 to 8
Height: 70 ft Spread: 45 ft Form: oval
Type: deciduous tree
Annual Growth Rate: 12 to 18 inches
Comments: This tree has beautiful, chestnut-colored, 8" long seed pods
that are a welcome change from shade trees whose fruit doesn't offer
any ornamental value. Its soft green shade is welcome in midsummer.
The leaves are large and doubly-compound, which give the tree a very
solid winter appearance. It makes a noteworthy contrast with the
finer-textured trees in the yard and neighborhood.
Cultivars:
'Espresso' - A seedless cultivar.
