Returning from the Tree Field

Old-Fashioned Holiday Hayride 2012: 11/23-12/16

Your adventure begins with a horse- or tractor-drawn hayride to the tree field. Enjoy an exhilarating ride from the front of the farm to the Play-yard, where you can launch a hike through the woods, spend time on the playground equipment, browse Christmas trees, visit our farm animals and more!

This year's dates are Saturdays and Sundays from November 24 through December 16, plus Friday November 23. See the hours & admission section for more details.

Travel Directions: Please visit our Contact Page for easy driving directions. Google and some other mapping sites are currently experiencing some difficulty in getting people here!

Correction: Please note the dates for our Holiday Hayride have been corrected here. Activities & concessions will not be scheduled the weekend of 12/22-12/23.

Visit With Santa and his Reindeer

Two of Santa's Reindeer stay with us for the entire Holiday Hayride season! We often have fresh apple slices on hand so you can feed them, and some days they really love to be petted.

Santa himself will visit for photo opps and a chat. CheckFeeding the reindeer is a favorite pasttime at Trim Pines out when he'll be here in the Hours section, below.

Be sure to bring your camera  - Santa's Shack is just the beginning of the great photo opportunities around the farm.

ultra-fresh Christmas trees!

The freshest ready-cut trees are here! These Fraser Fir are sheared, full, modern trees.

This year we continue our unique practice of ultra-fresh precut Christmas trees displayed right in the field, near Santa's Shack. That is where you will find our modern, dense trees. Out in the far-flung reaches you can seek a natural, old-fashioned tree to cut yourself.

Our precut trees are the freshest you can get, and are typically in standard sizes: 6 feet up to 10 feet, with a few taller ones available. Visit our varieties page for descriptions and pictures, and our tree hunting tips for a successful tree hunt. Not looking for a hayride? We also have a nice selection of freshly cut trees at the front of the farm, and we're open Thursday & Friday (after 11/26) without all the frills for cutting your own.

Dec 17 Tree Availability: Please call us to ask about late season availability 810-694-9958

Tree Pricing: Prices are clearly marked on the trees. Ranges include:
7ft to 9ft precut $33 to $69; you-cut $43 to $89
10ft to 12ft precut  $59 to $119; you-cut $69 to $154.
Each tree's price is based on both its size and grade, so there are ranges within a size, as well.

Cut-Your-Own trees are scattered widely throughout the farm, primarily in larger sizes (above 10ft). Some of these are suitable for cutting to a smaller size - for example, the tree pictured below is the top 7ft of an 11ft tree. Explore a tree's tag to see just what its useable size is! Its price will reflect that, and the baling crew can help you trim it to size.

25' trees are available on request.large trees!

Large trees are available up to 15ft in both pre-cut and you-cut. Trees above 15ft and up to 30ft are available on the stump. Ask your greeters how to find them when you arrive.

tree hunting tips

Follow these tips for a successful tree hunt:

1. Know the height & width of your room before you come to choose your tree. Select a tree that's the appropriate size, or have our tree handlers cut your tree to the right height for you. Remember to leave space for the stand and your tree topper!

2. Wear the right clothing for the day - as with any outdoor winter activity, most of us are happiest with our boots, hat & gloves! Bring a camera, too. We'll be happy to snap a picture for you, and you can trade turns on the shutter with other visitors.

3. Let your pets stay home, as they're not allowed on the farm with the horses & tractors.

4. Use our saws if you cut your own - we maintain them every year so you don't have to bring one. Axes and power saws may not be brought to the farm for safety's sake.
